This innovative 2 day course is designed to provide those on site who have responsibility for supervising temporary works with the essential knowledge to deliver on this often contentious area of construction activity. It is also suitable for builders and specialist contractors, utilities, civil engineering contractors, supervisors, graduates and site engineers wishing to begin the educational journey to become competent Temporary Works Coordinators.
The course is based on Section 2 Procedural control of temporary works of BS 5975:2019 and includes an in depth review of current legislation, relevant codes of practice and available best practice guidance in the industry. The course will also focus on the management of every day construction related temporary works items such as formwork/falsework, stability of reinforcement, foundations for plant, scaffolding, soils and excavations, site setup, refurbishment and work at height. Detailed, well designed course handouts are issued to delegates, however structural calculations do not form part of the program.
The program will not make the learner competent unless they have the previous skills, knowledge and experience to undertake the role. It is intended that the program will provide the learner with the technical training required to support them in the role.
This is a two day programme delivered over two consecutive days.
Full attendance of the 2 day course is required.
There is an examination at the end of the course which consists of 20 multiple choice questions, all of which are based on the course content delivered over the 2 days. This is an open book examination.
