Depending on the design check category assigned to different temporary works items, independent CAT 3 assessments can sometimes be requested by our clients for designs that have been undertaken by other design organisations. We are very fortunate at CBR Temporary Works Ltd to have a vast amount of experience amongst our team in different engineering disciplines and can offer this independent checking service to our clients. Our temporary works design procedures within the business ensure that our design checking engineers follow the correct process in undertaking CAT 3 assessments.
The only information we will request from organisations commissioning the CAT 3 assessments is an original copy of the design brief, also a copy of the design and DRA. Our procedures here at CBR Temporary Works Ltd will not allow any of our design checking engineers to request a copy of the calculations produced by the original design organisation. What is the logic behind this is? Well, if all that we have in front of us when undertaking the assessment is an original copy of the design brief and a copy of the design from the original designer, then we should be able to reach the same conclusion as the original designer. If there are any anomalies, we will liaise directly with our client and sometimes the original designer to reach a resolution.
